Beauty Music is a studio practice, collaborative recording project, and record label that centers the musical work of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Scott’s side of the album carries the spirit of his longtime visual practice. His songs reach toward a renewed world where peace is ordinary and people return to themselves. His improvised vocal takes, shaped in collaboration with Hop Peternell, create tracks that feel like invitations into a new season.

Armour’s side moves between memory and speculation, humor and grief. He draws from personal history, pop culture, and the present moment to build something forward-looking. Working closely with Peternell, he names the emotional terrain of each song before layering improvised vocals into complete pieces.

Recorded at Creative Growth in Oakland and Studio Route 29 in Frenchtown, NY, this album reflects the progressive art studio model at its best: artists leading their own work with support that helps bring their ideas to life.

Peace Makers in the Summer Time is the first release on BM001 and a vivid example of how artist-led studio environments make space for new sounds and new stories.
